In effort to consolidate and improve corporate culture, John Hancock, a division of Manulife Financial Corporation, engaged Dyer Brown to design new agile workspaces in two of their main campus buildings in Back Bay to accommodate the relocation of over 1,400 employees from the Seaport District.
In order for teams to reconfigure their work environment to support individual project needs, the large floor plates divide into "neighborhoods" — zones that support a range of collaborative and individual work styles, all organized around a central "town commons" area. The agile space consists of mobile, reconfigurable workstations and infrastructure designed in a grid to allow for connectivity at all times. To add to the signature white aesthetic, wayfinding signage inspired by tech culture, pops of jewel tones, natural wood finishes and metal fixtures round out the space.
