Dyer Brown recently completed design development for the lobby of Shillman Hall, a classroom building on Northeastern University’s Boston campus. The client’s goal was to imagine a student destination that would serve as a study and meeting space.
The design team’s observations of the existing space concluded that students prefer to work alone or in pairs, so the new design reflects that style of learning. The proposed design opens up the existing windows, adding natural light with minimal intervention, and also opens up the ceiling and brightens the finishes.
